The effects of a good teacher on young students

Having a quality teacher in early grades can lead to higher rates of student achievement in later grades, according to a recent Michigan State University study. Researchers also found that having a good elementary teacher has the same effect as smaller class sizes. "... [I]f you have to prioritize resources, perhaps the earlier school years make the most sense because this is where students receive most of the basic skills for reading and math," said associate education professor Spyros Konstantopoulos.
