More hospitals provide faster, more innovative ED services

Phoenix-based Banner Health uses its Door-to-Doc program to match staffing levels with peak emergency department admissions to reduce the rates of patients leaving the ED without receiving care. In an effort to do the same, the Ochsner Medical Center in New Orleans uses its qTrack protocol to assign physician assistants to aid less-ill patients, while a Holy Redeemer Health System hospital near Philadelphia uses a staff greeter to check on patients' concerns while waiting in the ED.
