Pet owners prefer lower-cost cremation in poor economy

More pet owners are choosing cremation over burial for their pets. "The economy is cutting them back from spending $800 on a burial compared to an $80 cremation," said Mike Detlefsen, president of Pet Haven Cemetery & Crematory. At Sea Breeze Pet Cemetery in Huntington Beach, Calif., the owner said some people who own plots aren't using them because burials cost too much.
