Plump pets are at risk for health ailments

According to the Association for Pet Obesity Prevention, 54% of dogs and cats in the U.S. are overweight or obese. "A lot of people think love equals food and treats," says New York-based veterinarian Theresa Cavallaro. "But extra food and treats equal more pounds, and more pounds equal medical issues like arthritis, diabetes and cardiac disease."
