What the debt debate says about leadership

Rosabeth Moss Kanter writes that the fight over the debt ceiling offers lessons about managing conflict. Sometimes, leaders need to compromise for the sake of their team. That means looking for common ground and giving the other side an opportunity to save face. "If you can't force a major change or get the best possible deal, a lesser deal that keeps doors open for the future means living to fight another day," Kanter writes.
