ANA economist discusses proposal to include APRNs in exchanges

ANA has submitted a proposal to the CMS that advanced practice registered nurses should be included in health plans that qualify for state health insurance exchanges. In an interview with DOTmed Daily News, ANA senior policy fellow and proposal designer Peter McMenamin said that many insurers have expressed indifference, even hostility, toward APRNs. "If you're not scouring the woods for providers of primary care, such as nurse practitioners and clinical nurse specialists, then you're missing the boat," McMenamin said.
