Army officials fear budget tightening may drive away contracting workforce

The Army could lose 20% of its contracting workforce to retirement and others to the private sector because of furloughs and pay freezes amid sequestration, said Michael Hutchison, deputy to the contracting general at Army Contracting Command. Such an exodus could undo efforts to beef up Army contracting staff, Hutchison said. "The fear is ... it's going to drive out all of our experienced people," he said.
