Cybersecurity legislation advances in Senate

The Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee on Tuesday approved a bill designed to strengthen U.S. cybersecurity based on a framework advanced by the Obama administration, opening the door for full consideration by the chamber. The Cybersecurity Act of 2013 -- which passed with bipartisan support -- would encourage private companies to adopt best practices being created by the National Institute of Standards and Technology.
