Final regulations on RIC and REIT built-in-gain exceptions

The Internal Revenue Service issued final regulations providing exceptions to the recognition of built-in gain when a C corporation becomes a regulated investment company or real estate investment trust or transfers assets to a RIC or REIT. The new rules affect transfers of property in a like-kind exchange and transfers by tax-exempt entities.
