Long warranties may not ensure a long-lasting, durable roof

Homeowners have many choices for materials when it comes time to install a new roof, from those with energy-efficiency features to others known for durability. The National Roofing Contractors Association recommends looking past the warranty when choosing materials because it is likely to be normal weather damage that affects the life of a roof. Select materials based on their quality, and examine the roof twice a year to extend its lifespan, the organization said.
