MIT's CSHub works towards a more eco-friendly transportation sector

Changes called for in President Barack Obama's Climate Action Plan are among the factors that drive the work being done by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology's Concrete Sustainability Hub, dedicated to "building a 21st century transportation sector and reducing greenhouse gas emissions." The CSHub has been working on research that shows the use of more rigid pavements and smoother road surfaces can lead to reduced fuel consumption, and consequently, emissions, but finding "new ways to produce concrete that minimize the use of energy as well as improve its longevity and durability," writes Suzanne Greene, would be key to achieving those two goals.
