Pioneer Market serves many more after Sandy

Business has increased this summer at Pioneer Market on New York's Fire Island, after superstorm Sandy caused other grocers to close. Pioneer repaired damage and reopened in time for the busy season, tweaking stock and lowering prices to accommodate additional customers. "My volume has increased, people are happy and they're saving money -- it's a win-win," said Frankie Whitney, one of four family owners.
