SEC broker-dealer amendments include new audit obligations

The Securities and Exchange Commission on Wednesday approved rule amendments that strengthen the audit requirements for broker-dealers registered with the commission. The amendments require broker-dealers to file new reports. The examination or review of the newly required reports -- and the examination of the broker-dealer's financial statements -- must be conducted according to Public Company Accounting Oversight Board standards.
