Nearly $11B transportation-funding bill heads for Obama's desk

The Senate voted 81-13 to pass the House-approved bill that would inject nearly $11 billion into the nearly bankrupt Highway Trust Fund. The bill, which is headed for President Barack Obama's signature, extends funding for transportation projects through May 2015. "The highway bill is good news-bad news," said Sen. Angus King, I-Maine. "The good news is, we did something. The bad news is, it was the 11th punt in the last six years and showed an inability to face a real problem and deal with it."
