PPL unveils plan to build transmission-line project worth up to $6B

PPL Electric Utilities has asked multistate grid operator PJM Interconnection for approval to construct a 725-mile transmission line that would go through Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey and Maryland. Because it would be a regional project to provide low-cost power, ratepayers will foot the bill for the project that could cost as much as $6 billion.
