Social media companies take a more-is-better approach to apps

Social media companies are increasingly abandoning their own in-house applications to create multiple standalone apps for users to download. While the move risks confusing subscribers, the companies say apps need to become more specialized. "We inherently believe every app should fulfill a very simple wish, and every app should be extremely simple," LinkedIn's Tomer Cohen said.
