FDA warns Americans against buying some counterfeit drugs in Mexico

Some Americans who have bought drugs in Mexico are returning with counterfeit versions of Merck's Zocor and carisoprodol, a painkiller made by several companies, according to an FDA alert. The agency said the Zocor fake contained no cholesterol-lowering ingredient and the carisoprodol fake was much less potent than the actual U.S.-made product.
