Winn-Dixie sells 13 Georgia stores

The chain will close 50 Georgia stores in the next two months, affecting about 3,500 employees. Announced purchasers of 13 of the stores include Wayfield Foods, All-American Quality Foods, and a partnership between Associated Wholesale Grocers and Alex Lee. Meanwhile, Food Lion officials said some of the Winn-Dixie stores they acquired could remain vacant in order to keep competition out of key markets.
