Snacking may have genetic cause

U.S. researchers say studies with mice indicate that eating snacks between meals may be caused by "irregular switching on" of genes in the brain. The researchers say the findings may help explain nocturnal eating patterns often seen in obese people and may provide a step toward understanding food cravings.
