Early adopters file their first reports in XBRL with SEC

Eager to respond to the concerns of clients in a time of volatility, U.S. Bancorp Fund Services and Stephens Inc., a client, have submitted their first digital Schedule of Investments, with XBRL tags, to the Securities and Exchange Commission. Reports in digital XBRL form won't be required by the SEC until 2011. Eric Falkeis, chief financial officer at U.S. Bancorp Fund Services, said voluntary electronic filing gets the data out to clients faster than the conventional system.
