Pa. tried to keep Carlisle Tire with millions in incentives

Pennsylvania offered Carlisle Tire & Wheel $6.9 million in incentives to persuade the manufacturer to keep its plant open in Carlisle, Pa. However, Tennessee offered the company almost three times that amount, including $4,500 for each job created in the state, assuming more than 25 are created. "It's just a shame that they have to move away from where they started," said Omar Shute, executive director of the Cumberland County Economic Development Office.
