AAP: Cleaning agents at home pose danger to children

A report by the AAP estimates that 267,269 children ages 5 and below were rushed to the emergency department after unintentional exposure to dishwasher detergent, ammonia or other household cleaners between 1990 and 2006. The percentage of injuries attributable to cleaning products in spray bottles increased from 30.3% in 1990 to 40.8% in 2006, the report in Pediatrics said.
