Analysts weigh effects of the ECB's revised collateral guidelines

Analysts expect borrowers to be discouraged from pledging risky assets as security for loans from the European Central Bank under terms of a discount schedule adopted last week. The revised policy imposes bigger, graduated haircuts on troublesome types of collateral, such as asset-backed securities.
