Cable industry is uncovering the value of going green

The Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers is helping companies such as Cox Communications, Comcast and Time Warner Cable study their energy use and take steps to reduce it. Areas to target are transmission infrastructure, critical facilities and offices, including vehicles. "What I've learned is that not only can you get payback, but with some things, you can get payback within a year. That's a beautiful thing from a budget standpoint," said Jay Rolls, Cox's senior vice president of technology development.
