Column: Privacy advocates question use of Secure Flight data

Information provided to the TSA under the Secure Flight program is to be deleted from government records one week after a flight is completed. But private airline records appear to be another matter, according to Christopher Elliott. According to the Transportation Department, airlines are required to handle information in accordance with their in-house privacy policies, rather than any federal standards.
