Community hospitals scramble to meet meaningful use deadlines

A KLAS Enterprises survey indicates that only 14% of U.S. hospitals have achieved Stage 1 meaningful use objectives, with facilities that have fewer than 200 beds struggling the most to qualify for incentives. Genesis HealthCare System in Zanesville, Ohio, turned to a financing deal with Huntington Bank to help accelerate deployment of EHRs across its network of 150 doctors and two hospitals to ensure it meets stimulus deadlines.
