Economists: TARP did largely what it was supposed to do

Two economists have made the first comprehensive study of the TARP program, and their conclusion is that it prevented the U.S. from falling into deflation, higher unemployment and lower GDP. The authors were Alan Blinder, a former vice chairman of the Federal Reserve who is now an economist at Princeton, and Mark Zandi, the chief economist at Moody's.
