Obama calls on GOP to stop blocking small-business lending bill

President Barack Obama is calling on Senate Republicans to allow a vote on a $30 billion package that would facilitate small-business lending. Democrats have been unable to get the 60 votes they need to push past a possible GOP filibuster of the bill, which Republican senators complain wasn't a bipartisan effort. "I'm calling on the Republican leaders in the Senate to stop holding America's small businesses hostage to politics, and allow an up-or-down vote on this small-business jobs bill," Obama said in his weekly address to the nation.
