Rail-car orders are outpacing deliveries, a report shows

Demand for rail cars is there, but orders are outpacing deliveries as car builders exercises caution, according to Economic Planning Associates' "Rail Car Overview" report, which reduces the number of expected deliveries by 2,750 cars. "The extremely low levels of deliveries this year and next will serve to intensify the pressure to replace aged equipment in various fleets during the longer term forecast horizon," the report states.
