A nontraditional pathway to classroom teaching

The Rhode Island Teaching Fellows -- part of the New Teacher Project -- is an intensive program that prepares new teachers for the classroom in just six weeks. The program recruits accomplished professionals to work in critical subjects such as math and science, as well as special education, and they work in summer-school classrooms from day one. The program asks participants to make teaching their career and provides support, training and mentoring throughout the new teachers' first year.
