8 cores in a processor doesn't make much sense, Qualcomm exec says

As MediaTek prepares to follow Samsung Electronics in bringing out an eight-core processor for smartphones, Anand Chandrasekher of Qualcomm made it clear that his IC design company won't take a me-too approach to doubling down on quad-core processors. The senior vice president said Qualcomm will focus on the quality of chip modems, battery life for mobile devices and affordable price points for its semiconductors.
