Congress is making no progress toward budget deal

U.S. lawmakers are starting to wonder how they will keep the government running after the fiscal year ends Sept. 30. With Congress getting ready to begin a five-week vacation, there seem to be dwindling options for heading off a government shutdown Oct. 1. Senior Republican aides in the House say they expect President Barack Obama to extend the sequester into fiscal 2014.
