NASA funds 3D printing of biomaterials for long space missions

With an eye to producing anything -- including even body parts -- that might be needed on a long space mission, NASA is providing $100,000 in funds toward the development of 3D printing of biomaterials. The process would employ a solution of the right kind of cells for a particular task that would be injected into a 3D array, with biological development taking over from there.
