Photos: Ongoing tunnel work at London's $22B Crossrail project

Andrew Hankinson's photos provide a closer view of underground work on London's $22.4 billion Crossrail project, where eight massive tunnel-boring machines are at work. Work goes on 24 hours per day, 7 days a week, with 8,000 workers on 12-hour shifts. A quarter million concrete segments will be used to line the tunnels. The project is expected to be completed by 2018.
