Seattle-area Sound Transit awards contract for $1.2B Northgate Link Extension

A $440 million tunnel contract has been awarded by the Seattle-area's Sound Transit board to JCM Northlink, a joint venture of Jay Dee Contractors, Frank Collucio Construction, and Michaels Corp. The project is part of the Northgate Link Extension project to add 8.5 miles to the light-rail line -- work that could cost as much as $1.7 billion. JCM's work will involve building two 3.4-mile light-rail tunnels and should start this fall.
