Senate committee OKs bill to overhaul federal jobs training

The Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions voted in favor of a bipartisan bill that overhauls federal job training and vocational programs to improve coordination and assessment procedures. The bill calls for most people with disabilities to move from sheltered workshops to community-based jobs and adds criteria to be met before someone can be referred to a sheltered workshop.
