Vt. high school takes steps to address gender gap in math

Data from the New England Common Assessment Program reveal a gender gap in math performance at Mount Anthony Union High School in Bennington, Vt. Math Department head Kathryn Schonbeck said recognizing the gap is an important step in changing the culture. To help address the issue, the school will experiment with new learning strategies, including formative assessments, a co-taught science and algebra course, and a yearlong geometry class.
