"Low-carb" guidelines expected later this year

The acting commissioner of the FDA yesterday announced his agency will issue guidelines later this year to help consumers understand "low-carb," "reduced carb" and "carbohydrate-free" claims on food items. Food manufacturers have long-hoped for such guidelines to provide more clarity to such products, while the FDA said the new guidelines should "demystify" any confusion.
