Fear of political backlash threatens eminent domain projects

A backlash against the Supreme Court ruling allowing governments broader use of eminent domain in seizing private property is threatening some projects. In one case, developer MLP Investments pulled out of a planned $30 million residential and retail project in the historic St. Louis suburb of Florissant, Mo., because it did not want negative publicity, city leaders said.
