Ice cream with a cause

PartnerShops, a Ben & Jerry's-affiliated company, helps teenagers learn job and social skills through employment at the ice cream shop. These ventures team up with a local charity, which pump revenue back into the program in exchange for amnesty from the usual franchise fee. "Training is a valuable thing, but businesses don't operate to train employees," said John Reynolds of the International Franchise Association. "They train employees to make a successful business."
