Pact reached on San Francisco luxury hotel-condo conversions

City officials and have entered into a pact with union leaders to temporarily halt any conversions of tourist rooms at luxury hotels into high-end condominiums. San Francisco's Board of Supervisors President Aaron Peskin had pushed for a permanent ban on the conversions, but agreed to an 18-month moratorium that would apply only to tourist hotels of 100 or more rooms.
