Controversial Maryland highway compared to Big Dig

Controversial plans for an 18-mile highway just outside of Washington, D.C.'s, beltway are being compared to Boston's troubled Big Dig project. The $2.4 billion Intercounty Connector broke ground in May, but since it would require the taking of about 50 homes and 10 businesses, opponents say they hope to stall or kill the project.
