Study: Breast CT scans offer some advantages over mammograms

Breast CT scans were superior to traditional mammograms in detecting mass lesions, a U.S. study found. Breast CT scans also do not require breast compressions, which could provide patients a more comfortable alternative to mammograms, researchers said. The study, however, found mammograms to be more effective in spotting microcalcifications.
