CMS changes decision on acute-care payments

The CMS has decided to increase its reimbursements to acute-care hospitals by 2.1% for the fiscal year 2010 under the inpatient and the long-term care hospital prospective payment systems, forgoing an earlier proposal to cut payments by 1.9%. The changes will take effect starting with discharges on or after Oct. 1.
