Expanded "Cash for Clunkers" program gains approval in House

The House on Friday voted to add $2 billion to the federal government's "Cash for Clunkers" program that aims to boost auto sales. The initial $1 billion set aside for the program quickly became oversubscribed Thursday when a flood of dealers submitted paperwork for rebates ranging from $3,500 to $4,500. The measure moves to the Senate, where its fate is uncertain.
