Key AirVenture events offer hope for aviation's future

There were several encouraging signs at the EAA AirVenture event in Oshkosh, Wis., last week that general aviation indeed has a future and important efforts are being made to recruit new pilots. Among them was an appearance by new FAA Administrator Randy Babbitt, who noted that he started his career as a flight instructor, and the announcement of an inaugural Learn to Fly Day to be held May 15, 2010, to encourage people to become interested in flying, no matter where they live.
