New Seattle hotel-condo complex includes green roof made of sedum

The new Olive 8 hotel and condominium complex in Seattle touts a drought-tolerant green roof made entirely of sedum. The roof's designers say sedum keeps the roof looking tidy and allows the plants to survive without irrigation. The project manager notes that the green roof will absorb up to 90% of the rainwater that falls on it, which will reduce the building's storm-water runoff fees.
