Studies support making AEDs available in public places

One study found U.S. schools with automated external defibrillator programs had a high rate of survival among people who had suffered sudden cardiac arrest. In the second study, Danish researchers said AEDs strategically placed in 10% of public areas in Copenhagen, such as public transit stations and shopping malls, would cover about 67% of all cardiac arrests.
