These days, many companies have corporate social responsibility policies in place -- but does CSR still mean something if everyone's doing it? Consumers now expect all companies to take a "triple bottom line" approach to business, writes Chelsea Willness, but they're skeptical about big companies' commitment to the ideals behind such strategies. That means that for many companies, CSR has become a defensive tactic rather than a way to distinguish themselves and win over consumers, Willness argues.
