Social-media use by workers could break the law

More employers are disciplining employees who violate their social-networking policies, and medical institutions say they're especially concerned because patient privacy is protected by law. "Social media isn't any different than talking about patient information at the dinner table or calling up your aunt and telling her about a high-profile patient that came in. For some reason, people don't make the connection that Facebook isn't private," says Jessica Soulliere, spokeswoman at the University of Michigan Health System.
